Safe Deposit
The Credit Union offers Safe Deposit Boxes to provide extra security for your important items, documents and files. A safe deposit box is a convenient place to store important items that would be difficult or impossible to replace. Does this sound like something you need for you and your family?

  • Various sizes available (check your local branch for sizes available)
  • Private facilities - Allow for confidential inspection of box content
  • Affordable pricing - Annual fees range from $18 to $901
  • Convenience - Renewal fee debited from your SECU Checking, Money Market or Share account
  • Confidentiality - SECU does not have access to or knowledge of the valuables in the Safe Deposit Box. Only authorized persons are allowed access, and dual key control (branch key, member key) is required to open boxes
What items should go into a safe deposit box?
  • Personal Items - any items that you need to stay safe from loss or damage
  • Important Papers - originals of your insurance policies; family records such as birth, marriage and death certificates; original deeds, titles, mortgages, leases and other contracts; stocks, savings bonds and certificates of deposit (CDs)
  • Other Valuables - special jewels, medals, rare stamps and other collectibles, negatives for irreplaceable photos, and videos or pictures of your home's contents for insurance purposes (in case of theft or damage)
What should NOT go in a safe deposit box?
  • Emergency Items - originals of a "power of attorney" (your written authorization for another person to transact business on your behalf), passports (in case of an emergency trip), medical-care directives if you become ill and incapacitated, and funeral or burial instructions
